Hi, I’m Ollie Barry, Jr., though many of my clients know me as “The Tall Guy” since I stand at 6'8". I’ve been around cold rooms and shelving systems for as long as I can remember. From listening to my dad’s stories at the kitchen table to helping him install shelves all over the country, it’s safe to say I’ve been a part of this business my whole life.
One of my favorite memories was doing an installation with my dad at a supermarket. We walked into this huge cold room, and while I was assembling the shelving, I overheard one of the staff say, "Where’s this new shelving from? Oh, it’s from Ollie Barry!" It turns out my dad had done business with that guy’s grandfather—talk about long-lasting relationships!
Fast forward to today, and I’ve had the privilege of working with some fantastic customers. From securing contracts with local icons to working on international projects, every job reminds me of why I love what I do. It’s not just about the product; it’s about helping people in the food industry improve their business operations.
One of the things I’m most passionate about is partnering with chefs and restaurant owners throughout Ireland. It’s not just a sales transaction to me—it’s about solving real problems and helping them streamline their work. OBS was founded in Dublin in the early 1980s, when Ollie Barry Sr. began personally visiting restaurants, butcher shops, and supermarkets across Ireland, designing and delivering custom made shelving units for cold rooms while building a strong reputation for innovative storage solutions. One of our early milestones was working with the renowned Shelbourne Hotel, and the word of mouth from the industry helped us expand our services across Ireland.
